Philippines' Sotto Secures Spot in WC Qualifiers
Big man Kai Sotto's application to join Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers has been met with enthusiasm by head coach Tim Cone.
Cone has hinted that the 7-foot-3 Sotto might provide a combative edge for the national team during the first window qualifiers this November.
Sotto was unable to apply for the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers due to a knee injury[1].

Cone shared earlier in October that there was a possibility of Sotto getting the green light by then[1].
"We heard he might be back in October or late October, and that might be enough time for him to get into the first window," Cone said[1].

The Philippines have been paired with Australia, New Zealand, and Guam in the operational bracket for Group A[3].
Sotto's potential recovery in late October might offer him a chance to join Gilas Pilipinas for the NBA-style 3x3 basketball superbalita event in Cebu. If he recovers as expected, Kai Sotto could bring his superbalita talent and towering presence to the sports of basketball, providing a formidable asset for the team during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
