Philippines Show Resilience at Asian Youth Games Despite Missing Medals

The Asian Youth Games concluded with mixed results for the Philippines. In cycling, Lee Wan Chun of Hong Kong won the boys' road race, narrowly defeating Thailand's Kittaphat Homkajorn. Meanwhile, the Philippines' Alas Pilipinas team lost to Thailand in the bronze medal match, finishing fourth in their event.

In basketball, Rhose Almendralejo led the Philippines with a match-high 15 points against Thailand. However, the team narrowly missed out on medals in several events. Jin Gabriel Ong lost his bronze medal match in the boys' -56kg division, while Sachi Khonghun of the Philippines lost to Munkhjin Batbold of Mongolia in the girls' -52kg bronze medal match. In jiujitsu, the Philippines also missed out on podium spots in multiple events.

In the boys' -85kg class, Adam Fernani of Saudi Arabia beat Zeus to win bronze. The exact name of the opponent who lost to Fernani in the bronze medal match is not readily available, as official results for individual fights in jiujitsu are not always detailed in official sources. The Asian Youth Games, held every four years, were last held in Shantou, China, in 2023.

Despite missing out on several medals, the Philippines showed strong performances in various events at the Asian Youth Games. The team's resilience and determination were evident, setting the stage for future competitions.
