Philippines marks Philippine American Friendship Day on July 12, as celebrated by 4th Impact
The Philippine American Friendship Day celebrations, one of the nation's largest events of its kind, will take place at Artesia Park in Artesia, California on July 12, 2023. This year's event, themed "Celebrating Friendship Through Cultural Diversity," will honour the deep historical ties between the United States and the Philippines.
The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) Greater Los Angeles, a significant organiser of the Philippine American Friendship Day celebrations in Los Angeles County, will lead the community in celebrating this special friendship a week after the Independence Day on the 4th of July.
The highlight of this year's event is the performance by the Filipino girl group 4th Impact, composed of sisters Almira, Irene, Mylene, and Celina Cercado. Known for their powerful vocals and energetic performances, 4th Impact continues to maintain a strong fan base and is recognised for their contributions to music over the past decade.
The group, who have participated in several Philippine and international talent competitions, including the "World Championships of Performing Arts," which they won in 2006 and 2013, and the South Korean talent search "Superstar K6" in 2014, will headline the celebrations. They gained worldwide recognition when their audition for the 12th season of the British singing contest "The X Factor" went viral, earning 195 million views on YouTube.
Other performers at the event include Jules Graeser, Garth Garcia, Donita Rose and husband Felson Palad, the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO), Zumba with Mark Almeria and Nonie Belarmino, Synergy Kids, Hula O' Hoaloha Hawaiian Dancers, Josie Empleo & Company, Cerritos High School's Magkaisa Club, and 11-Sharp Quartet.
In addition to the performances, the event will feature non-stop entertainment, vendors, and food booths offering diverse cuisines. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a parade of community organisations starting from the Artesia Park parking lot.
The Philippines observes the 4th of July as Philippine-American Friendship Day, a day that pays tribute to the long partnership between the two countries. This year's celebrations promise to be a memorable event, showcasing the rich cultural diversity and strong ties between the Philippines and the United States.
