Radio Host Philippe Fehmiu Shifts Programming Time on ICI Musique
Iconic radio host Philippe Fehmiu, known for his daily show "Vi@Fehmiu" on ICI Musique, has announced a significant change in his schedule. Starting this fall, Fehmiu will broadcast on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7 PM to 10 PM.
In a video message shared on social media, Fehmiu acknowledged that the change marks a departure from his previous weekday midday programming. He revealed that this shift allows for a more intimate and evening radio atmosphere, drawing inspiration from renowned stations like the BBC and CBC Music.
Fehmiu's exit from the weekday 12 PM to 3 PM slot will pave the way for Claudine Prévost to occupy the time. The last daily show of "Vi@Fehmiu" is set to air on July 4.
The host expressed his commitment to exploring the emotional impact of music, a theme that resonates with evening radio shows on CBC Music. Fehmiu emphasized the increasing importance of music to listeners in these challenging times, citing numerous messages from audience members who've turned to music for solace.
In a conversation with ICI Musique's management, Fehmiu emphasized his desire to present diverse musical textures and secure a clear radio appointment for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. He expects a continued presence of global sounds in the daily programming, with placements on Catherine Pogonat's morning show, Claudine Prévost's forthcoming slot, and Nicolas Ouellet's "Nouveaux sons."
