Pheu Thai MP Doubts Anutin's 'Transitional' Government, Warns of Money's Influence
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has faced criticism from the Pheu Thai Party, which labels his administration a 'transitional government' for Bhumjaithai. The party's MP, Cholnan Srikaew, expresses doubts about the government's policy delivery and predicts the next 'party city' will be influenced by 'the power of money'.
Anutin defended the government, asserting its policies are achievable and cabinet members have expertise and experience. He promised transparency and accountability, denying decisions would be made behind closed doors.
Cholnan, however, believes the proposed charter amendment to establish a constitutional drafting assembly will not pass. He fears the process will be controlled by Bhumjaithai-affiliated drafters, with the identity of the proposal's originator remaining unclear. He also dismissed the People's Party's decision to trade its mandate for charter amendments and early elections as a 'waste'.
Cholnan described the appointment of ministers as 'window dressing' to boost Bhumjaithai's popularity in the 'party city'. He doubts the government's ability to deliver policies before the election due to ministers' lack of capabilities. He predicts the next 'party city' will be influenced by 'the power of money', potentially undermining democracy. He also warned of possible interference in the Election Commission's investigation into vote fixing in the Senate election.
The Pheu Thai Party's criticism and Cholnan Srikaew's predictions cast shadows over the Bhumjaithai-led government's ability to govern effectively and democratically in the 'party city'. Despite Anutin's assurances of transparency and accountability, the upcoming 'party city''s fairness and the charter amendment process remain in question.
