Pforzheim's inaugural mayor, Dirk Büscher, continues to hold the position.
In a special session held on Tuesday, Dirk Büscher was re-elected as the First Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of Pforzheim for another eight-year term. The re-election took place after two rounds of voting, with Büscher securing a majority in the second round.
Büscher, a German politician affiliated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), thanked the city council members for their trust following the election. In his campaign speech, he highlighted significant decisions made during his first term, emphasizing the positive financial developments in the city's budgets, urban renewal and infrastructure projects, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Büscher's first term was marked by exceptional circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the energy crisis. Despite these challenges, he managed to secure additional funds through the Zensus, allowing planned loans to be reduced.
Büscher's background in spatial planning and city management has played a significant role in his leadership. Prior to his political career, he worked as a regional planner for the Regional Association Heilbronn-Franken from 1993 to 2001, served as a referent for regional planning and development in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics from 2001 to 2003, and was the deputy director and chief planner of the Regional Association Mittlerer Oberrhein from 2003 to 2008. He later served as the director of the Regional Association Nordschwarzwald from 2008 to 2016.
Mayor Peter Boch congratulated Büscher on his successful election and expressed his joy at the prospect of potentially working with him for the next eight years. Büscher's speech during the campaign focused on public transportation and safety and order, as well as education and cultural projects to strengthen community engagement.
Büscher also prioritized environmentally sustainable policies, including green urban initiatives and climate protection measures, aligning Pforzheim with broader European goals on climate action. He has also worked to increase transparency and citizen participation in local governance and has pushed digital transformation projects to make municipal services more accessible and efficient.
As he continues his tenure as First Mayor, Büscher stands committed to a solution-oriented approach and practical solutions to achieve the best for the city of Pforzheim.
