Pforzheim maintains Peter Boch as its mayor
In a landslide victory, Peter Boch (CDU) has been confirmed for a second term as the Mayor of Pforzheim. The local election held on Sunday saw Boch receiving an impressive 88.4% of the votes, securing his position for another term.
Boch first challenged the incumbent and won re-election eight years ago, and it appears that the residents of Pforzheim are pleased with his leadership. Dimitrij Walter (FDP), who ran for the top position in 2017 but had no chance, was Boch's only opponent this time around.
The election saw a turnout of 23.5%, with around 88,000 Pforzheim residents called to the polls. Interestingly, the other parties and groups in the divided Pforzheim city council did not put forward their own candidate, including the AfD.
Peter Boch's political career extends beyond Pforzheim, as he was previously the Mayor of Epfendorf (district of Rottweil).
