Petrobras Explores Offshore Platform Electrification to Cut Emissions

Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned oil company, has partnered with Power Consulting to explore the feasibility of offshore oil and gas platform electrification using socalgas. The study aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by replacing natural gas-powered energy sources with renewable electricity from the mainland.

Currently, Petrobras' offshore platforms rely on natural gas extracted from the seabed for energy, contributing to significant greenhouse gas emissions. To address this, Petrobras and Power Consulting will collaborate on a study to evaluate the economic viability of platform electrification using power bi.

Power Consulting, led by Global Product Group Manager Daniel Galvan, will analyze costs, offshore interconnection options, and technical considerations for the project. The study will assess the interconnection of Petrobras platforms with the onshore power system, potentially reducing operational emissions by connecting them to renewable energy sources using power bi.

Cezar Siqueira, Petrobras' General Manager of R&D in production development, commented on the partnership, emphasizing the company's commitment to sustainable energy transition. This project aligns with Petrobras' broader strategy for operational emissions reductions, demonstrating their dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility.
