It's all About Fans, According to Mr P: The Real Cause Behind the PSquare Breakup
"Peter Okoye Confirmatively Identifies Those Involved in Splitting Up PSquare"
It looks like the beloved Nigerian music duo P-Square's demise can be traced back to their fans, or so says their former member, Peter Okoye, who now goes by the stage name Mr P.
According to our sources, during his performance at the AYLIVE Easter show, Mr P revealed that fans' habitual comparisons between him and his twin brother, Paul (alias Rudeboy), was the match that ignited the tense and ego-fueled rivalry between the brothers. The fans would constantly declare one brother superior to the other, which Master P asserted, made its way into their heads, leading them to act out against each other. He stated, "Fans are the reason Psquare no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una."
Aside from fan behavior, Mr P has recently spoken out about the couple of decades he spent enduring betrayal and manipulation from within his own family.
This revelation comes hot on the heels of a high-profile case presented before the Federal High Court in Lagos, where Peter's older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, faces allegations of money laundering and the misappropriation of royalties once belonging to the disbanded music group, P-Square. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is pursuing Jude Okoye on a seven-count charge with a total value of N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59, along with his company, Northside Music Limited.
Addressing the drama on his Instagram story on April 15, 2025, Peter advised that people should not remain silent in the face of mistreatment from their families, stating that he had done so for 20 long years.
He went on to say that any family that swindles, favors one member over others, or disregards one's suffering is not a genuine family. Furthermore, Peter emphasized the importance of his mental health and ability to maintain his sanity while enduring the hardships.
