Person Performs Pull-Ups off India's Longest Suspension Bridge, Video Goes Viral
In Assam's Tinsukia district, a young man performed a daring stunt on India's longest bridge, the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Setu (Dhola-Sadiya Bridge). The bridge, which is 3.55 km longer than the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, has recently been the centre of controversy.
The stunt, which involved hanging from the railing of the bridge and performing pull-ups, was recorded by others around him using their mobile phones and has since gone viral on social media. This reckless act has raised serious public safety concerns, but there has been no official statement or confirmation of any investigation or enforcement by local authorities so far.
Local residents and social groups have strongly condemned the acts and urged authorities to identify and take action against those involved. They highlight the life-threatening nature of such acts on what is India's longest bridge. The demand for action is to prevent such incidents in the future.
The current safety concerns regarding the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge centre on these dangerous stunts by youth groups, which have turned parts of the bridge into an unsafe area primarily due to risky behaviour for social media content. The stunts performed on the bridge can potentially be fatal for the participants.
As of the latest available information, the Tinsukia district administration has not taken any official action against the young men performing dangerous stunts on the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge. The lack of response from the local authorities has sparked public outcry, with many calling for immediate action to ensure the safety of the bridge and its users.
The Dhola-Sadiya Bridge, inaugurated in 2017, is 9.15 km long and is situated over River Lohit in Assam. The bridge, named after Bhupen Hazarika, a renowned singer and songwriter, has raised questions on its safety due to the stunts performed by young men.
