Motorcycle Accident on L 116 Between Neuenhoven and Gierath
On Friday evening, April 17, an unfortunate incident occurred on the L 116 between Neuenhoven and Gierath. An 18-year-old motorcyclist, along with his 17-year-old passenger, was involved in a severe accident.
The accident took place around 5:35 PM. The motorcyclist was braking to maneuver the vehicle across the opposite lane and park it on the left side of the road. Unfortunately, during this maneuver, the motorcyclist collided with a car driven by a 46-year-old man from Moers.
Both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed away. The motorcyclist and his passenger sustained severe injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. The car driver, however, only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by an emergency doctor.
The L 116 was closed in both directions for the duration of the accident investigation. This investigation also involved the Central Traffic Accident Team. The estimated total damage from the accident is in the low five-figure range.
