UCLA Music Series Kicks Off Tenth Year with Talented Student Performances

The UCLA music series, now in its tenth year, is off to a promising start, showcasing the university's exceptional student talent. Hosted by Mrs. Carol Block at her residence, the series encourages participation from UCLA staff across various areas and departments.

The series commenced on February 28 with a diverse lineup of performers, including Ian Bankhead, Nicole Galisatus, Sarah Wooden, Jamie Kang, and the Tiffany Wee-Brahms Clarinet Quintet. Mrs. Carol Block's residence was filled with the sound of UCLA's budding musicians, setting the tone for the rest of the series.

On March 1, Hannah Yocute, Joseph Seyedan, Juan Rivera, Aaron Dozal, Payam Larijani, Joan Greenwald, and Peter Yates took to the stage, each bringing their unique flair to the performance.

The following day, March 2, there was no scheduled performance, but on March 6, the series continued with the captivating duo of Gal Kohav and Victoria Kirsch. Their performance, titled "Worlds Apart: Songs of Loss, Songs of Love", was a poignant exploration of human emotions through music.

On the same day, the series also featured a classical guitar ensemble, adding a new dimension to the series' repertoire.

The highlight of March 8 was a performance by Vanessa Martucci, Jared Jones, and Vicktoria Kirsch. They performed a selection of German Lieder, a genre that has been a staple of the series. Mrs. Carol Block was also featured in the photos of the early performers, adding a personal touch to the series.

On March 7, Jade Cook and Douglas Sumi delivered a vocal performance that left the audience in awe. The series, which has become a beloved institution at UCLA, continues to provide a platform for its talented students to shine.

While specific details about the repertoire for these performances could not be found in the available data, UCLA’s official music department website, concert season announcements, or program brochures would be the most direct sources for such detailed event information.
