Amplified: Intense Clashes Between Israel and Iran Leave Nearly 300 Dead
"Death toll reaches ten as Iranian retaliatory assaults continue in Israel" - People succumb to fatalities in Iran's reprisal strikes against Israel
Things escalated between Israel and Iran like never before, with both nations caught in a deadly spiral of attacks. The worldwide community is worried that this escalating conflict may drag on, potentially causing chaos across the Middle East.
Israel set off its air raid sirens on Sunday morning, as blasts were heard in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. According to rescue services, police, hospitals, and reports, over ten people have been killed in the Greater Tel Aviv area and in Tamra in the north, which was hit by Iranian rockets or drones since Saturday night. An estimated 380 people, including seven still missing under the rubble of a residential building, have been injured since Friday.
The country's airspace has remained closed due to the security situation, with no departures or landings at Ben Gurion Airport for the third day in a row. Israel claimed to have intercepted seven drones within an hour on Sunday, while, 1,500 kilometers east, Israeli fighter jets targeted sites in Iran.
Meanwhile, in Tehran, explosions were heard around 02:30 AM, as reported by AFP journalists. The Israeli army asserted it targeted the headquarters of the Defense Ministry and other sites linked to the Iranian regime's nuclear weapons project, including the headquarters of the Iranian military research organization SPND.
Two Iranian oil depots were reportedly attacked by Israel – one in Shahran northwest of Tehran and another south of the capital. The facility in Shahran caught fire, causing a significant smoke cloud to linger over the city in the morning.
Reminiscent of a scene from a war film, Israel bombed air defense systems in the Tehran region and dozens of rocket launchers throughout Saturday. The Israeli army claimed it now held air superiority up to Tehran, stating that Iran's capital was no longer protected. Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that Tehran would "burn" if Iran fired more rockets at Israel. On Sunday, Katz reiterated, "Tehran is burning."
U.S. President Donald Trump cautioned Iran against targeting the United States. In the event of an attack, Trump threatened, "the full force and power of the U.S. military will be unleashed against you like you’ve never seen before." He emphasized that the U.S. had "nothing to do" with the Israeli attacks on Iran. After a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump pressed for the "war" between Israel and Iran to come to an end.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragtschi announced on Sunday that Iran had "concrete evidence of U.S. troops and U.S. military bases in the region supporting the attacks by the Zionist regime."
The conflict between Israel and Iran reached new heights on Friday morning with Israel launching the "Rising Lion" operation against military targets in Iran. Among the fatalities were the chiefs of the Iranian army, the powerful Revolutionary Guards, and almost the entire leadership of the Revolutionary Guard's air force, with the Israeli army reporting that more than 20 "commanders of the security apparatus of the Iranian regime" were eliminated.
Not only were nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan targeted, but the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization also confirmed the deaths of nine nuclear scientists.
The situation has taken a heavy toll on both sides, with numerous deaths reported on Saturday, including five members of the Revolutionary Guard and 30 militia members from East Azerbaijan province. Israel, led by Prime Minister Netanyahu, has asserted that it dealt a "significant blow" to Iran's nuclear program justifying its "preemptive strike" with the advanced state of Iran's nuclear program, as intelligence indicated Tehran might soon enrich uranium to military levels and develop an atomic weapon in a short time.
Western countries have long-suspected Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons, which Tehran vehemently denies. In recent months, according to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran has notably increased its stockpile of 60 percent enriched uranium, with uranium enriched to about 90 percent needed for nuclear weapons.

Additional Data:
- Military Situation and Damage: Israel's strikes have reportedly destroyed or severely damaged thousands of centrifuges at Natanz. Iran's Fordow facility remains intact due to its deep underground location. Nearly a third of Iranian missile launchers have been destroyed, and between a third to a half of their long-range missiles capable of reaching Israel have been depleted. Israel's attacks have extended beyond military sites to include regime institutions and energy infrastructure. [Source: Release 1, Section 2.1 and 2.2]
- International Reactions: The U.S. is deploying additional military forces to the Middle East to "provide options to defend US assets and interests." The conflict has raised serious concerns about the toll on civilians, humanitarian conditions, and the potential for further escalation. Iran maintains an unyielding stance regarding nuclear talks and is not yet prepared to negotiate an end to the war with Israel. There are indications that Iran may seek concessions if allowed to retaliate fully against Israel. [Source: Release 1, Section 3 and 4]
