People of Navalmoralejo, Toledo, make their way back to their residences following a 24-hour evacuation period
Residents of Navalmoralejo, a small town in the province of Toledo, Spain, are starting to return home following a wildfire that forced the evacuation of around 180 people [1]. The forest fire, which began on August 11, was extinguished by August 14 [2], allowing for the potential safe return of the evacuees.
The road closures that were in place near Navalmoralejo to manage the emergency have been lifted [1]. However, details about organized transportation for the evacuees or the process of their return have not been provided [1].
In the meantime, volunteers from El Puente del Arzobispo Civil Protection will assist in the transfer of evacuees [3]. Many of the evacuated residents have already returned to their first residences or are staying with relatives and friends [4]. The journey back home for evacuees will be made by private cars [4].
The Town Hall in Villar del Pedroso, a nearby town, has hosted evacuees in municipal facilities [5]. Currently, evacuees are housed in Villar del Pedroso, Cáceres [5]. To avoid inhaling smoke from the fire, evacuees in Villar del Pedroso are confined [6].
Approximately 60 to 70 residents of Navalmoralejo are expected to return home [7]. Despite the fire in the province of Toledo being contained in Navalmoralejo, it remains at level 2 and is not fully controlled, according to Plan Infocam [8].
Further updates will be required for specific transport and return details once local authorities provide formal announcements.
