People attending Hamm's open-air baths during the month of July
In the heart of summer, Hamm's public pools saw a mix of busy and quiet days. According to local reports, the unpredictable weather in July 2022 led to a decrease in the number of visitors to the Hamm public pools, particularly the residents of Hamm who frequented the city's pools less often.
However, the Selbachpark pool bucked the trend on its 50th anniversary on July 19th. Despite the weather being unpredictable, the day was blessed with temperatures of 31 degrees and sunshine, drawing in approximately 2,600 visitors. The wave pool and children's wading pool, which had been non-operational for a week due to a water pipe burst earlier in the month, were operational once more on this special day.
The Selbachpark pool's busiest day in July 2022 was actually its 50th anniversary, surpassing its attendance from other days in the month. In contrast, the Süd public pool saw its busiest day on July 2nd, with about 4,500 bathers.
Looking back at previous years, the Selbachpark pool saw nearly 17,300 visitors in July 2021, while the Süd public pool had approximately 18,500 visitors in July 2025.
