Pennsylvania Educator Set to Win Ferrari Following Triumph over Celebrity Athletes at Fanatics Event
Matt Dennish, a towering figure at 6'6", could be the lucky winner of a Ferrari at this year's Fanatics Fest! This former D1 track runner and current teacher in Pennsylvania has been tearing it up at the Fanatics Games, giving Tom Brady a run for his money.
Currently standing in second place, Matt is just a heartbeat away from driving off in a brand-new Ferrari 812 GTS. While Brady clinched the top spot and a whopping $2 million grand prize, the Ferrari is a more than respectable consolation for the runner-up.
The competition saw 50 lucky fans who submitted demonstration videos earn a spot, and it didn't come as a shock when Dennish was among them. A self-professed sports fanatic from Philly, Dennish's submission was undeniably impressive.
"When I saw Michael Rubin pop up and Fanatics promoting the Games, I thought, why not give it a shot? So, I filmed a video, challenging my students. I dunked over a kid and pretended to take a charge," Dennish shared with Fox Business.
Dennish's athletic prowess extends beyond the video. During his time at East Carolina University, he held the second-fastest time in school history in the 800-meters, clocked at 1:49.93. He was also a star player for Red Lion High School's football and basketball teams, and current quarterback at golf with a 2-handicap.
In his submission video, Dennish showcased some of these highlights, including a half-court shot at a 76ers game. And with stunts like quarterback skills, pitching accuracy, closest-to-the-pin, and UFC striking challenges, it's no wonder he's dominating the competition.
Dennish's WWE walkout video, however, may have caused a bit of controversy. "I tried to keep that video under wraps, but then Fanatics Fest posted it. Oh, well," he quipped.
Even if he doesn't take home the Ferrari, Dennish isn't too worried. If no fan finishes in the top three, the highest-scoring fan will still walk away with a $100,000 prize. And with several heavyweight athletes like Cam Newton, Dez Bryant, and Odell Beckham Jr. yet to compete, he's got plenty to hope for!
