Penguins sign 2025 first-round pick Bill Zonnon to three-year entry-level deal
The Pittsburgh Penguins have secured forward Bill Zonnon with a three-year, entry-level contract. Drafted 22nd overall in 2025, he joins the team after a strong season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL. His deal will start in the 2026-27 season and last until 2028-29.
Zonnon spent the 2025-26 campaign with the Armada, playing 35 games due to injury. Despite missing 29 matches, he still managed 14 goals and 32 assists, totaling 46 points. His 1.31 points-per-game average ranked 11th in the league, while his 32 assists placed fourth on the team.
Over four QMJHL seasons, he recorded 226 points in 230 regular-season games. His presence on the ice boosted the Armada's expected goals for percentage to 67.3%, helping them finish second in the Western Conference. Now, the team prepares to face the Victoriaville Tigres in the first round of the playoffs. Pittsburgh selected Zonnon alongside Will Horcoff (24th overall) in the 2025 draft. Both players were first-round picks, reinforcing the Penguins' future roster.
Zonnon's contract begins next season, marking his transition to professional hockey. His offensive production and play-driving ability in junior hockey suggest he could contribute early in Pittsburgh's system. The Penguins now have two promising 2025 first-rounders under contract.
