On the 6th of June, the Moers-based band Westcoast will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a live performance at Stovi's im Hebeturm in the western portion of Duisburg. The venue, the last surviving traction elevator tower in Rheinanlagen 13, once played a towering role in transporting wagons across the Rhine.
Founded in 1973, Westcoast comprised four young Moers musicians who drew inspiration from the Flower Power and Folk-oriented music scene of the time. Bands such as America, the Eagles, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young were setting the music world alight during this period. Westcoast's original members included Wolfgang Cornelissen (Bollo), Jürgen Rosemann (Rosi), Georg Lukas (Luky), who came together for their first rehearsal in Moers.
For nearly half a century, Westcoast has devoted themselves to creating authentic music, known for their harmonious vocals and acoustic sound. They have graced stages with renditions of their classic hits, as well as newer pieces that embody the Westcoast style. This unique blend of guitars, ukulele, harmonica, keyboard, bass, and cajon has delighted audiences for decades.
Westcoast experienced a brief hiatus before reuniting in 2006 at Moers' Dschungel. In 2013, Berthold Enning (Berti) joined the band on drums, adding the perfect rhythmic support to the Westcoast sound. More recently, in 2023, Hans Klingels, a former member from the 80s, returned to the keyboard.
For their 50th anniversary concert, Westcoast has a special guest lined up to deliver additional goosebump moments: Rosalie, the 13-year-old granddaughter of the keyboardist and a semi-finalist on "The Voice Kids" in 2024. This prodigious musician will join Westcoast on guitar and vocals for an unforgettable night of handmade music. Admission to this celebration is free to all!

Other music acts, inspired by the success of bands such as Westcoast, also emerged during the 1970s. Entertainment at Stovi's im Hebeturm on the 6th of June will not only feature Westcoast but might also include performances by other skilled musicians, adding to the overall enjoyment of the anniversary concert.
