The small town of Büttgen is buzzing with excitement as the VfR Büttgen 2 team prepares to participate in the Erft-Kurier Bambini EM, a mini-football tournament for young players, taking place on June 8th at the Sudanlage in Neuenhausen.

Bianka Mischtal, the Deputy Mayor of Büttgen, has announced her support for the team, expressing her eagerness to cheer them on during the competition. The team, which consists of 14 young footballers, is being sponsored by the Gillbach community.

The VfR Büttgen 2 team, considered an underdog in the tournament, aims to cause an upset. They are being coached by Marc Richter, Eike Klünker, Tim Binetsky, and Linus Schmid, who focus on challenging and promoting the players according to their respective developmental levels and in line with current modern children's football.

The team's coach, Marc Richter, has led the players in a battle cry to boost their morale and focus ahead of the tournament. The team's motivation is significant, as they are representing Büttgen in the competition. Unfortunately, the Rommerskirchen team did not make it to the tournament this year.

The experience for the Büttgen mini-kickers is considered more important than the result. Success for them is seen as coming with fun. Bianka Mischtal, who distributed shirts, shorts, and socks to the young footballers, emphasised the importance of enjoying the game.

The VfR Buettgen 2 team, despite being an underdog, aims to make a mark in European leagues, aspiring to show their skills in champions-league-level tournaments in the future. With the support of Bianka Mischtal and the Gillbach community, they plan to take their love for sports, particularly football, beyond the Erft-Kurier Bambini EM tournament.
