In the upcoming days, the Radiance of Peace from Bethlehem will make its way to Saxony-Anhalt. This spiritual transfer was marked by an ecumenical ceremony held in Halberstadt on a chilly Sunday. As the diocesan head, Christian Darius, put it, "We're passing on the light." The Catholic scout troop, boasting around 400 active members, is a significant force behind this light distribution endeavor.

The Peace Radiance will extend beyond religious establishments and social services, finding its way to the halls of Saxony-Anhalt's state parliament and Minister President Reiner Haseloff (CDU). Individuals can also take a fragment of this radiating hope home from the churches. Darius urged, "Let's carry more and more light into the world, inspiring people to reflect on peace."

Originating from Bethlehem's church, the central motif of this year's Peace Light campaign is "In search of peace." Conceived in 1986 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, the Peace Light initiative has been disseminated annually to 'people of good will.' Every December 6th, a child ignites the flame in the grotto of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born.

This festive Peace Light journey makes a pitstop in Halberstadt's Church in Saxony-Anhalt during the ecumenical event. In addition to religious platforms and communal institutions, politicians are also brought into the fold, and citizens are offered the opportunity to take the light home. Encouraging peaceful thoughts and actions, the light becomes a symbol of unity and hope for a more tranquil world.
