PDP: Not Dead, Says Bode George – We've Learned Our Lesson

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reaffirms Commitment to Selflessness Following NEC Meeting

Following a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, elder statesman and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, expressed optimism about the party's revitalization. In an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, George declared that the party has been "resurrected," likening it to an indomitable "iroko tree" with deep roots.

During the NEC meeting, George emphasized that the PDP is not owned by any single individual but serves as a collective platform. He acknowledged the lessons learned from past mistakes and believes that these lessons marked the beginning of a new chapter in the party's existence.

"The PDP, an iroko tree, does not perish," George stated, adding, "What we achieved today was the resurrection of our party. Its root system is too deeply entrenched to allow it to die."

Chairman of the PDP's Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, also called for members to forego selfish ambitions and instead focus on the party's unity and common goals. George left the meeting feeling rejuvenated, expressing his faith in the party's potential to regain its former glory.

In the midst of internal conflicts, the NEC meeting originally planned to be held last week was postponed to allow the Bukola Saraki-led reconciliation committee to address those issues prior to the gathering.

Previous disagreements, including reports of dissent within the party, have cast doubts on its future, but George's statements indicate a renewed sense of purpose and unity among PDP members. With the party looking toward selflessness rather than selfishness, the PDP may be poised for a comeback.
