The Great British Sewing Bee is set to return to our screens next week, bringing with it a new series packed with challenging tasks and a focus on shaping skills.

Judge Patrick Grant, who has been a part of the show for 10 series, has expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, stating that this series will be the best yet. Alongside fellow judge Esme Young, Patrick will be judging a group of talented sewists as they tackle a variety of tasks designed to test their abilities in creating shape and structure in garments.

In the first week, contestants will be challenged to create a tie-front blouse incorporating gathers to add volume, reimagine circle skirts into entirely new garments within a 90-minute time limit, and design a perfectly shaped dress utilizing pleats. These pattern challenges are expected to be done with exceptional excellence, according to Patrick.

Esme Young, who has been Patrick's co-judge for the last ten years, is said to be "at her absolute best" during the filming of the new series. Sara Pascoe, who will return as the host of the new series, is also reported to be "on super form".

The increased difficulty of the challenges faced by the sewists in this series has led to some fine-tooth comb nitpickery from the judges in order to separate the contestants based on the accuracy and spacing of their top-stitching. Despite this, Patrick stated that every week, they had to send home a contestant capable of amazing things.

According to Patrick, this year's contestants showed a high level of technical competence, with only one contestant struggling with the difficult tasks given in the first eight weeks. The standard of sewing continues to improve in this series, with the judges having to work hard to find faults in the contestants' work.

The new series of The Great British Sewing Bee will air on Tuesday 15th July, 9pm, BBC One. Don't miss out on the action and be sure to tune in to see who will be crowned the winner of this year's competition.
