Passengers of American Airlines are recorded leaving a smoke-filled plane on the Denver runway following a landing gear problem upon landing.

On Saturday, American Airlines Flight 3023, a Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, encountered a maintenance issue with a tire during take-off roll at Denver International Airport (DEN). This incident prompted an immediate evacuation of the aircraft, with passengers and crew members safely deplaning using emergency slides.

The Denver Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene, extinguishing a fire that had erupted. Fortunately, only one person was evaluated at the gate and transported for a minor injury. Five other passengers were evaluated but not transported for further treatment.

The incident caused a ground stop for all incoming flights at DEN from 2 p.m. until about 3 p.m., resulting in approximately 90 flights being delayed. However, operations at the airport have since resumed.

American Airlines confirmed that the aircraft was taken out of service for inspection by their maintenance team. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently investigating the incident.

The pilot commanding the evacuation was Captain David O'Connor, and the lead flight attendant was Maria Gonzalez. The displaced passengers will depart for Miami later Saturday on a replacement aircraft.

It is worth noting that another major airline incident occurred on Friday, when Southwest flight 1496 took a sudden nosedive to avoid a midair collision.

As of the last price, American Airlines Group Inc.'s (AAL) stock stood at 12.55, with a change of 0.07 and a change percentage of 0.56%. However, no further information was provided about the incident's impact on AAL's stock.

The safety of passengers and crew members remains the top priority for American Airlines, and the company is working diligently to ensure a smooth and safe journey for all travellers.
