Passenger Ferry Fire Off Phu Quoc Island Safely Evacuated

A passenger ferry, Kim Thủy Lâm, encountered a fire off Phú Quốc Island in southern Việt Nam early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 3:40am, with 40 passengers and crew members on board. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities swiftly responded, with the VMRCC guiding the ferry closer to shore and providing medical assistance. All passengers and crew members donned life jackets, and an emergency distress signal was sent. Rescue efforts were bolstered by the An Giang Provincial Civil Defence Command, the Border Guard Command, the Navy, and the Coast Guard, who deployed vessels to aid the operation. Despite the fire, the Kim Thủy Lâm ferry safely reached Bãi Vòng Port on Phú Quốc by 5:20am, with all passengers and crew evacuated safely.
