Vienna's 23 Districts: A Neighborhood-by-Neighborhood Breakdown

The heart of Vienna, Austria boasts 137 precincts spread across 23 districts, each brimming with its unique charm and distinct community. These micro-neighborhoods, while undefined by official boundaries, are often characterized by shared values and a sense of camaraderie.

The SPO's Stronghold

The undermeiding precinct in the 12th district was the only one where the SPO (Social Democratic Party of Austria) garnered over half the votes (50.2%). No other party managed to crack the 40% mark, not even the Freedom Party (FPÖ), who scored their highest at 39.8% in Albern. The precinct with the least support for the SPO was Döblinger Cottage in the 19th district, where they still held aLead (27.7%) over their closest competitor, the ÖVP (22.1%).

The ÖVP and the Turks

In the Döblinger Cottage, alongside Neustift am Walde and the Innere Stadt, the election result was the best for the ÖVP among the Turkish community. However, the SPO suffered its worst precinct result in Undermeiding, with a dismal 4%. The ÖVP struggled to meet expectations even in wealthier areas, such as Grinzing (21.7%), Sievering (21%), Ober Sankt Veit (20.7%), and Schönbrunn (19.2%).

The Rising FPÖ

Despite falling short of forming a coalition with the SPO, the FPÖ was the election's big winner. Precincts with the most FPÖ support were primarily located in the south and northeast of the city. In Simmering, they surpassed 30% in five of seven precincts, similar to Floridsdorf. The SPO, however, remained just over a percentage point ahead in Albern (40.9%), where the FP Ö scored a record 39.8%.

The Greens' Success

The Greens continued to perform well in the 7th district, with the highest vote share of 28.4% in Schottenfeld. They also achieved comparable results in Neubau Zentrum (27.4%), Spittelberg (26.7%), Fünfhaus (26.5%), Kreuzgasse quarter (26.3%), Neulerchenfeld and Brunnenviertel (26.2%). In Albern, however, theGreen's support was minimal, with a mere 2.4% vote share.

Pötzleinsdorf yielded the most votes for the NEOS (NEOS - The New Austria and Liberal Forum), who came in second behind the SPO (28) with 21.4%. They also maintained a 20% or more vote share in the Döblinger Cottage (20.8%) and Grinzing (20.1%). On the flip side, their worst performance was in the Per-Albin-Hansson settlement (10th district) with 3.4%.

For the left alliance KPÖ/Links, Grätzl Neulerchenfeld and Brunnenviertel garnered the most votes. They managed to surpass both the NEOS (6.7) and ÖVP (6.3) with their peak result of 9%. They also outperformed these competitors in Fünfhaus (8.2), where they placed fourth. The lowest Grätzl result was recorded in Nordrandsiedlung in the 21st district, with a paltry 1.6% vote share.
