Yo ho, I'm feelin' that island vibe, sings Julian Sommer and Frenzy in their popular hit Ballermann tune. And a whole bunch of doctors oughta've been on speed dial last Saturday in Oberhausen.
That's right, in the Ruhr area's sweltering heat of over 30°C, tens of thousands partied like there was no tomorrow. Claiming it to be the biggest Mallorca shindig in Germany, the self-proclaimed "Insel Fever" took over the festival grounds of the Rudolf-Weber-Arena.
Located near the Rhein-Herne-Kanal and the massive Westfield Centro shopping center, two stages graced with the presence of 30-plus artists took turns bringing the heat. Artists like Mickie Krause, Mia Julia, Isi Glück, Julian Sommer himself, and Marc Eggers kept the crowd rocking throughout the day.
But with all that heat mixing with brewskis and sangria, some partygoers just couldn't keep it cool. Paramedics were kept busy while free water was passed out, but the fun hardly stopped.
