Participants Gather for the Jumping Competition in Dusseldorf's Himmelgeist: 643 Contestants Lace Up Their Shoes

In the heart of Düsseldorf, the parish garden of St. Nikolaus in Himmelgeist was transformed into a sports garden on Sunday, 11th May. The Juicht Run, a popular annual event, offered a variety of distances for runners of all ages and abilities.

The main event was a ten-kilometer run through the beautiful Juicht nature reserve. In the women's race, Sophie Möller came second with a time of 43 minutes 26 seconds, while Dilan Sahin finished third with a time of 45 minutes 42 seconds. Andreas Wundersee of the Bridge Runners from Düsseldorf took the top spot in the men's race, crossing the finish line in 35 minutes 43 seconds.

Shorter distances were also on offer, including children's and school runs. Emma Kasimirowicz set the pace in the women's field with a swift time of 21 minutes 23 seconds. In the men's race, Jonas Barsig finished second with a time of 36 minutes 6 seconds, and Jakob Golombek came third with a time of 36 minutes 30 seconds.

The event served as preparation for the upcoming Himmelgeist half marathon, with the 19th edition of the Himmelgeist Bridge Run over 21.1 kilometers scheduled for 14th June 2025.

The Juicht nature reserve, a 214-hectare area in Düsseldorf Himmelgeist, has been a nature reserve since 1996. The run provided a unique opportunity for participants to explore the picturesque trails of this protected area.

Numerous helpers ensured the safety of the course and took care of the well-being of the participants in the finish area. A competition for schoolchildren over 1500 meters and a children's run were also part of the Juicht run.

One of the most inspiring stories of the day was that of Dieter Schomburg, who is 87 years old. He participated in the Everyone's Run, a 5.3-kilometer run, and finished 61st among men with a time of 32 minutes 31 seconds.

The results and rankings of the day can be found online, making it easy for participants to share their achievements and for spectators to follow the race. Merlin Dörner of the Bridge Runners Düsseldorf finished the 5.3-kilometer Juicht run in an impressive 17 minutes and 22 seconds. Marlene Stallmann won the women's race with a time of 41 minutes 4 seconds.

The shooters will organize their traditional Herbert-Hermanns Run on 23rd August, the shooters' festival Saturday. This event promises to be another exciting addition to Düsseldorf's running calendar.

Sports events continued in the sports garden on Sunday, 11th May, as the Juicht Run offered various sports activities for all ages. Children's races, school runs, and different distances for adults were available, providing a unique opportunity for participants to enjoy sports in the Juicht nature reserve.
