Get ready for a trip down the annals of time, as we delve into an exciting archaeological discovery along the Rhine − a replica of a Roman watchtower in Neuss! This marvelous structure, nestled opposite Düsseldorf, is a proud addition to UNESCO's World Heritage Site, "Frontiers of the Roman Empire - Lower Germanic Limes," and will soon boast informative signboards to captivate your imagination.

This isn't just any old watchtower. Nope! This one harks back to 2,000 years ago! It stood proudly as part of the Roman border guard along the Rhine, and it's an absolute thrill to see this piece of history brought back to life. The past often remains hidden beneath our feet, so it's quite a find to see the remains of forts, legionary camps, and training grounds peeking out from the earth.

Lucky for us, this magnificent stretch of historical landmarks stretches from Bonn to Kleve, passing through no less than 19 municipalities, such as Cologne, Duisburg, Wesel, Xanten, and, of course, our very own Neuss! And in 2021, Neuss's section of the fascinating Lower Germanic Limes was granted the coveted title of World Heritage Site!

So whether you're a history binger, an archaeology enthusiast, or just someone who loves a good mystery, this replica Roman watchtower is the one for you. And don't worry – the city of Neuss is currently installing information boards at other World Heritage Site locations in NRW to help you explore even further! 🌐
