Parliament sex scandal exposure sought by Orwoba following Ruto's corruption disclosure
Gloria Orwoba, the former senator, has intensified her criticism of President William Ruto, accusing his administration of corruption and sexual misconduct within Parliament, as well as voter bribery during the Kisii by-elections[1].
In a recent statement, Orwoba alleged that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has contravened its own policy by engaging in voter bribery in Kisii, offering 100,000 Kenyan shillings to each person attending a meeting at the State House[2]. This new development comes in the context of the upcoming November by-elections.
Orwoba also accused the government of turning a blind eye to alleged cases of sexual harassment involving parliamentarians, questioning why no action has been taken against those implicated[3]. She further suggested that Ruto will eventually admit to a high number of such cases within his administration.
This is not the first time Orwoba has faced political backlash. She was expelled from the UDA party in May 2025 on allegations of gross misconduct and breaching party rules[4]. However, the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal overturned her expulsion in August 2025, deeming the process unfair and unlawful, effectively reinstating her[4].
Orwoba has remained vocal and critical of Ruto, publicly threatening political consequences and asserting that her removal from the party did not serve gender equity or the public interest[5]. She also suggested Ruto could face impeachment, reflecting ongoing tense political dynamics.
In addition, Orwoba has accused Ruto of trying to portray women as being confined to traditional roles, such as cooking, as seen in a viral video of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga helping Ruto fry fish[6]. She warned that this suppression risks relegating women from leadership positions in the country.
