The Rhöner Highland Games, a beloved annual event in Bad Neustadt, Germany, is gearing up for its return on Friday, 25th July 2025, and Saturday, 26th July 2025, at Am Sportplatz, Birx. This year's event promises a diverse range of activities, performances, and competitions that will captivate both newcomers and seasoned participants.

On Saturday, the team competition kicks off at 10 am, followed by individual challenges led by the Burghaun Castle Pipes & Drums at 1 pm. The day will culminate in a closing awards ceremony, where all participants can celebrate their achievements.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to performances by Nitrogin on Saturday evening and the "Flying Celts" dance workshop. The Rhön Sawyers will entertain the crowd at midday on Sunday, with the "Herzblut" troupe providing afternoon entertainment and mischief.

For the young ones, there's plenty to keep them engaged. Between 1 pm and 3:30 pm, supervised stations will be set up for youngsters to compete, while archery, puppet shows, and various children's activities will be available throughout the day. Young guests can also try their hand at archery, create crafts, and ride a hand-operated carousel.

The sporting competitions will include traditional events such as "Tossing the Baam", "Drunken Rhön", "Heu'n'Roll", "Roadburn", "Highland Puzzle", Cornhole, and Rhön wetland games. For those interested in learning a new skill, Sören Bingen will demonstrate the art of blacksmithing.

Foodies will be delighted by the array of culinary options, including home-baked cake, quark balls, knobibrot, mushroom pan, burger specialties, grilled food, and zwiebelplätzchen. Refreshments will be available in the form of fresh Rhön beer, mead, coffee from MEE KAFFEE, Franconian wines, and whisky.

For those seeking a more leisurely experience, a 5km guided walk around the former inner-German border is available for 10€, with pre-registration required.
