SSV Jahn Regensburg Prepares for DFB-Pokal Clash with 1. FC Köln

SSV Jahn Regensburg's coach, Michael Wimmer, is eagerly anticipating the upcoming DFB-Pokal match against 1. FC Köln, scheduled for this Sunday at the Jahn Stadium. Wimmer hopes to ignite a force and energy with the home crowd, aiming to potentially surprise the FC.

Wimmer's strategies for SSV Jahn Regensburg are centred around building team confidence, maintaining conviction, and implementing a well-structured game plan. He emphasizes the importance of the team's collective effort, with every player contributing optimally to create a sense of unity and value.

The coach also recognizes the team's resilience, demonstrated by their ability to hold their ground against Köln, despite a dramatic comeback. This demonstrates a level of confidence in their defensive capabilities and overall team resilience.

Wimmer's conviction is evident in his tactical decisions, as he showcases his faith in the team's depth and his ability to adapt strategies as needed. He also focuses on building momentum from previous performances, indicating his belief in the team's potential to grow and improve with each match.

The team's game plan is centred on absorbing pressure and seeking opportunities to counterattack, requiring discipline and coordination among the defense. Set pieces are also emphasized for creating scoring opportunities, given the high number of corners in the match against Köln. Achieving midfield control is crucial for connecting the defense with the attack, allowing for smoother transitions and creating scoring chances.

Despite the challenges, Wimmer remains optimistic, encouraging his players at the third-division club to play with conviction, without fear, and bravely. However, 1. FC Köln are considered the favourites in the match, boasting a broad squad, a lot of experience and playing quality, flexibility, and robustness.

The match will be broadcast on Sky, with around 13,000 spectators expected at the Jahn Stadium. Wimmer looks forward to seeing his friend Lukas Kwasniok, who took over 1. FC Köln in the summer, during the match.

SSV Jahn Regensburg's season start was mediocre, with a 1:1 draw in Ingolstadt, a 0:4 defeat in the league against Duisburg, and a narrow 2:1 win in the Toto Cup against Bayernligist Kornburg. Wimmer took over Jahn after their relegation to the 3rd league in the summer.
