Parkrun's 5K Your Way unites cancer patients in inspiring monthly runs

A special parkrun event has taken place to support cancer patients and their families. Organised by the Move Against Cancer charity in partnership with the 5K Your Way group, the run aims to encourage those affected by the disease. The initiative comes as the monarch continues his own cancer treatment, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and medical care.

Parkrun has been bringing communities together for over two decades. Since its launch in 2004, the free, timed 5-kilometre events now take place in 22 countries across five continents. Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide participate regularly.

The 5K Your Way runs, held on the last Saturday of every month, offer extra support for cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones. Over 120 parkrun locations in the UK and Ireland host these events, creating a welcoming space for those impacted by cancer.

The monarch's ongoing treatment, which began in early February 2024, follows a December announcement about adjustments to his care plan. He has credited early detection and following medical care for his progress so far.

The partnership between Move Against Cancer and parkrun provides a regular, inclusive event for those touched by cancer. With runs taking place monthly at locations nationwide, the initiative continues to grow. Meanwhile, the monarch's experience underscores the value of timely diagnosis and adherence to treatment.
