In an exciting turn of events, pianist Ilya Shmukler, a graduate student at the International Center for Music (ICM), will be performing Cesar Franck's "Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra" at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on Parkville Campus. The concert, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., promises to be a captivating musical experience.

This performance marks a significant milestone in Ilya's career, as he recently won the Concours Geza Anda Piano Competition in Zurich, Switzerland, in June 2024.

The ICM Orchestra will also be part of this concert, under the direction of guest conductor Jason Seber. Known for his inviting and engaging approach on and off the podium, Seber served as associate director of the Kansas City Symphony from 2016 to 2022.

The upcoming concert is not the only event on the ICM's 2024-25 season. The next concert, the ICM's 6th annual signature event, Stanislav & Friends, is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, starting at 7 p.m. at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo.

Meanwhile, the Park University International Center for Music Orchestra will also be hosting its annual Valentine's concert on Feb. 7, 2025. While the guest conductor for this concert is not yet confirmed, the program includes a variety of musical pieces.

Admission to the concert is free, but attendees are asked to RSVP in advance. For more information about the concert or to RSVP, please visit the ICM's official website or contact the ICM office directly.
