In a bold move, Paris Jackson (27) fires back at critics over her scheduled concert appearance on the same day as her father Michael Jackson's demise. On June 25th, Jackson will hit the Bridgestone Arena stage in Nashville to kick off for Incubus, an event that's stirred up controversy.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Jackson opens up about the backlash: "Here we go again!" she says, addressing the uproar. "One of my tour dates with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra? It so happens to be June 25th, a day that's fraught with emotions for me and my family."

No Power Over the Schedule

The artist clarifies that, as the opening act, she has no say in the proceedings: "Let me set the record straight - when you're not the headliner, you can't decide the date, time, or city for your performance. The big boss does."

On this somber day, June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson left the world following a fatal heart attack caused by prescription drug overdose. This upcoming June 25th will mark the 16th anniversary of his untimely death.

Paris candidly admits that as a supporting act, she doesn't have any privileges to speak of: "The role of the opening act means you neither get a tour bus nor special treatment. At best, you might score a Sprinter van. This time, though, I'll be traveling with just my acoustic guitar and sound technician—my partner, Justin Long."

A Favor, Not an Entitlement

Jackson makes it crystal clear that she sees the tour as a gesture of goodwill: "It feels to me like they're doing me a favor by having me on tour." She explains that she even proposed herself as a potential additional opening act. With a dash of irony, she ponders, "Should I tell them we can't perform on that date?" and concludes with a pointed "F--- you" to the naysayers.

The announcement of her collaboration on Incubus' "Morning View + The Hits Tour" was made back in March. Taking to Instagram, the band expresses their excitement: "Thrilled to have @parisjackson joining us on our [tour]," they wrote. "Can't wait to rock with you!"

"In the face of criticism, Paris Jackson, daughter of the late music icon Michael Jackson, asserts that her upcoming performance with Incubus on June 25th in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena is not a privilege, but a favor, acknowledging the controversy surrounding the date which also marks the anniversary of her father's death. She further clarifies that contrary to speculation, she has no control over the date, time, or city of her performance as an opening act."

"Despite the backlash, Paris continues to engage with her fans on Instagram, reminding them that she proposed herself as an opening act for Incubus' tour, highlighting the entertainment industry's larger dynamic where celebrities like herself often have limited control over their schedules."
