Paris FC's supporter group, Legion X, has been officially disbanded.
Nonchalantly discussin' the drastic moves in the Euro league
Paris FC fans were still catchin' their breath after snaggin' a promotion to Ligue 1, but the celebrations didn't last long. The troublemakers of Legion X, an unofficial ultra supporter group of the club, got the boot due to their frequent involvement in "misbehavin'" and "mayhem," according to a decree published over the weekend in the Official Journal.
"These Legion X folks are stirring up trouble, from physical altercations to property damage, both within and near sporting arenas," the decree, dated May 1, details.
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, determined to maintain order in stadiums, had publicly threatened to dismantle the group back in April.
"Legion X isn't about supporters of Paris FC," Paris FC's president, Pierre Ferracci, clarified at the time. "We're pleased to see the public authorities taking action against this group."
Meanwhile, two notorious ultras groups of AS Saint-Etienne, the Magic Fans and the Green Angels, are also under the microscope. However, these two groups, with the backing of the Saint-Etienne club leaders, have managed to dodge the bullet so far.
