Paris FC's fan group, Legion X, officially disbanded.
Heads are spinning over Paris FC's recent drama
Can you believe the whirlwind weekend that just unfolded for Paris FC? Their ultras group, Legion X, the unofficial, enthusiastic crew freshly promoted to Ligue 1, is no more. The club's management dissolved them due to their alleged involvement in "chaos" and "mischief," as per a decree published in the Official Journal on May 1.
"Members of Legion X have been involved in various forms of chaos, including physical altercations leading to injuries, and destructive mischief targeting properties within sports venues and nearby areas," the decree explains.
Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, determined to restore order in football stadiums, announced his intentions to disband such groups on April 1 and followed through with his promise.
"It's not about Paris FC supporters," Pierre Ferracci, Parisian club president, reacted at the time. "We applaud the efforts of the public authorities to disband this group."*
Aside from Legion X, two groups of AS Saint-Etienne’s ultras, the Magic Fans and the Green Angels, are also under scrutiny. However, backed by the leaders of the Saint-Etienne club, they have yet to face the same consequences.
