German Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp Returns to Ligue 1 with Paris FC
After a successful seven-season spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp is set to return to Ligue 1 with newly promoted Paris FC. The signing is subject to Trapp passing a medical exam, as confirmed by Radio France's sports service and Le Parisien.
Trapp, who turns 36 next month, will sign a three-year contract with Paris FC, according to reports, following his departure from Eintracht Frankfurt. During his time at the German club, Trapp made 395 appearances across two periods, with 287 of those coming in his latest spell. He was instrumental in Eintracht's 2022 Europa League triumph and helped the team reach the DFB-Pokal final the following season.
Last season, Trapp played 36 matches and helped Eintracht finish third in the Bundesliga, their best placement since 1993, while reaching the Europa League quarter-finals before losing to Tottenham Hotspur.
Trapp began his professional career at Paris Saint-Germain, where he played from 2015 to 2019, making 91 appearances for the team. One of his most memorable moments with PSG was a match against FC Barcelona in the round of 16 of the Champions League, although the outcome was a 7-1 defeat for PSG, resulting in elimination for the Parisians.
As captain of Eintracht Frankfurt, Trapp expressed mixed emotions about leaving the club but is looking forward to the new chapter at Paris FC, signing a deal until 2028. Paris FC has secured the services of Trapp for their Ligue 1 campaign and is eager to benefit from his experience and leadership.
