Package delivery powerhouse DPD to trim workforce by up to 1,400 employees
In response to challenging market conditions and inflationary pressures, DPD Germany, a prominent parcel service provider, has announced plans to reduce its workforce by up to 1,400 employees over the next two years. DPD delivered 412 million parcels in Germany in 2022, marking an 8.8% decrease compared to the previous year. DHL, the market leader, also reported an 8.3% drop in delivery volumes, culminating in 1.7 billion parcels. However, DHL managed to bounce back, with a 5.1% hike in parcel volumes during the third quarter of 2023. Despite DPD's cost-saving efforts, the company has yet to disclose its current financial status.
