Paramount and Spyglass revive Heart Eyes with a 2028 horror-romance sequel

The sequel to Josh Ruben's 2025 horror romance Heart Eyes is coming to the Melrose lot.

Paramount Pictures will co-produce and co-finance Spyglass Media Group's Heart Eyes 2 for a global theatrical release, with a date set for Feb. 11, 2028.

The pic will be written by Ruben and Darcy Fowler from a story by Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy. Ruben will also direct. Landon and Divide/Conquer will produce. The pic reps a reteam between Paramount and Spyglass after the global success of the last three Scream movies, the latest Scream 7 the highest grossing title in the franchise ever with $213.4M after a record series global debut of $97M.

Heart Eyes, which was released by Sony last year timed to the Valentine's Day holiday, was made for $18M net, and grossed $30M at the domestic B.O. The pic's first weekend was $8.3M, but was interesting about its second weekend was that its 3-day shot up +19% with $9.88M over Feb. 14-16. The only other major studio title on Feb. 11, 2028 so far is a Universal event film.
