Streaming services had a price hike last year, with some more confusing than others. One of these services, Paramount+, merged with Showtime in June and subsequently increased its prices, not just for those interested in Showtime's content. Both Paramount+ subscription tiers (ad-supported with Showtime and ad-supported without Showtime) saw a price increase, although only one offers additional content.
The most affordable Paramount+ plan, which includes ads and no Showtime content, has become pricier than ever before. Known as Paramount+ Essential, it now costs $5.99 per month, an increase from $4.99 before the merge. If you opt for an annual payment, you'll pay $59.99, equating to a $10 increase per year. Please note that these prices do not include local taxes that may or may not apply depending on your U.S. location.
This plan does not offer live streaming on your local CBS channel. However, you can still watch NFL and UEFA Champions League football games via separate live streams on CBS.
For those interested in ad-free streaming with Showtime's content, the Paramount+ with Showtime plan is the best option. It costs $11.99 per month or $119.99 annually (without taxes). This plan includes access to the entire library of both streaming services now combined.
While this plan is $2 more expensive per month compared to the previous model that only included Paramount+, you do get more content. If you signed up for an account before the merge, you'll keep your rights until your next billing cycle. After that, you'll need to switch to the new plan.
As for the current cost of the Paramount+ with Showtime bundle, it stands at $12.99 per month or $119.99 for an annual subscription. This plan includes everything from the Paramount+ Essential plan, such as access to a vast content library, live sports, and ad-free streaming of on-demand movies and TV shows, as well as access to Showtime's original series, movies, documentaries, and specials.
