Serves 4

  • 1 can of Sardelles
  • 1 can of Chopped Mussels, with their liquid
  • 1/2 cup of Noodles
  • 3 cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground Black Pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes

Preparation

  1. Cook the noodles according to package instructions, until al dente.
  2. Warm a large skillet over medium-high heat and sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil and butter until translucent.
  3. Add the entire can of sardines, including oil, to the skillet and mix until sardines break down. Follow with the entire can of chopped mussels with its liquid, mixing well.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low once the noodles are cooked and drain off excess liquid from the skillet, retaining at least 50% of the original liquid. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and stir well.
  5. Season with freshly ground black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes, to taste. Serve immediately.
