Panthers crush Oilers 4-0 as Bobrovsky earns season's first shutout

The Florida Panthers secured a decisive 4-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in an NHL match on March 20. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky delivered a standout performance, stopping every shot to record his first shutout of the season. The win marked a key moment for Florida as they battle for a playoff spot.

Florida dominated from the start, with goals from Cole Reinhardt, Eetu Luostarinen, Anton Lundell, and Carter Verhaeghe sealing the shutout. Edmonton, holding sixth place in the Western Conference with 77 points, failed to convert any of their 21 shots on net.

The Panthers avenged an earlier loss to the Oilers in November. Despite the victory, Florida remains 14th in the Eastern Conference with 71 points, still chasing a playoff berth. Bobrovsky's performance stood out amid an otherwise inconsistent season. His 2025-26 stats—23-19-1 record, 3.08 GAA, and .876 save percentage—fall short of his career bests, including a 2.06 GAA and .931 save percentage in 2016-17. However, his shutout against Edmonton and league-leading .800 shootout save percentage offered a rare bright spot.

The Panthers' win keeps their playoff hopes alive, though they remain outside the top eight in the East. For Bobrovsky, the shutout was a rare highlight in a season where his form has dipped below past standards. The Oilers, meanwhile, will look to regroup after a night where their offence failed to break through.
