Panel to Discuss Data Tech's Role in Safer, Healthier Workplaces

The Center for Data Innovation, part of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), is hosting a crucial panel discussion on November 20, 2025. The event, titled 'Data and Technology in the Workplace', will explore the role of data-rich technologies in creating safer, healthier, and more productive work environments. Speakers include Ashis Banerjee, Eli Clemens, and Tom West.

Workplace technologies, such as wearable health monitors, environmental sensors, and automated tracking systems, are transforming workplaces. These innovations enhance safety by detecting hazards, reduce employee fatigue through real-time monitoring, and improve productivity by optimizing workflows.

However, the adoption of these technologies has been slow due to concerns about surveillance risks. Workers worry about constant monitoring, while employers fear potential legal and reputational issues. U.S. policies at federal and state levels have not actively promoted the adoption of these technologies, further slowing their integration into workplaces.

The panel discussion aims to strike a balance, encouraging the use of beneficial technologies while addressing concerns about surveillance and privacy. It will delve into policy measures that can promote adoption while protecting the workforce. The event seeks to foster a productive dialogue between policymakers, employers, and employees, ultimately shaping a future where technology enhances, rather than undermines, workplace well-being and productivity.
