Pan Am Flight 103 Bombing Details: Releasedate, Actors, Storyline, Previews, and Essential Information

The BBC and Netflix are set to release a six-part drama titled "The Bombing of Pan Am 103," which will air on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer in the UK starting from 9pm on Sunday, 18th May 2025. This series is based on the real-life bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie in 1988, an event that claimed the lives of 270 people, making it Britain's worst-ever terror attack.

The series follows the events of December 21, 1988, and the joint Scottish-American investigation that sought to bring the perpetrators to justice. The plot unfolds chronologically, starting with the tragic day of the bombing and then delving deeper into the aftermath, investigation, and pursuit of justice. The story captures both the forensic and human challenges involved in such a complex multinational inquiry.

Lauren Lyle stars as the lead, with Andrew Rothney, Parker Sawyers, James Harkness, Khalid Laith, Amanda Drew, Tony Curran, Phyllis Logan, Molly Geddess, Cora Bissett, Patrick J Adams, Connor Swindells, Merritt Wever, Eddie Marsan, and Peter Mullan also starring in the series.

The lead writer of the series is Jonathan Lee, and it was initially developed by MGM Television and Night Train Media. The series was previously announced under the title "Lockerbie." Michael Keillor directs the series, which is produced by World Productions, MGM Television, and Night Train Media.

The series aims to portray the events with sensitivity and accuracy, highlighting the toll on victims’ families and the determination of investigators racing against time. It also provides a strong focus on the emotional impact on families and communities affected.

Warrants were issued for the arrest of two Libyan nationals in 1991, and Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was jailed for life in 2001, but it is widely disputed that he acted alone. The series will be available globally on Netflix at a later date, with a trailer for the series already released by the BBC.

Connor Swindells, known for his roles in shows such as Sex Education, SAS Rogue Heroes, and Emma, stars as DS Ed McCusker in the series. Adam Morane-Griffiths is the researcher for the series. Gillian Roger Park wrote two episodes of the series. The executive producers include Simon Heath, Roderick Seligman, Steve Stark, Stacey Levin, Adam Morane-Griffiths, Sara Curran, Herbert L. Kloiber, Michael Keillor, Gaynor Holmes, Joe Hill, Mona Qureshi, and Manda Levin.

The series was filmed in Scotland, Malta, and Toronto, Canada, and details the investigation into the crash on both sides of the Atlantic and the devastating effect it had on the residents of Lockerbie and the families who lost loved ones."
