Palma de Mallorca’s Christmas lights dazzle under summer skies

Palma de Mallorca has illuminated its streets with a stunning Christmas rejuvenation. The annual ceremony switched on 614 kilometres of fairy lighting and 3,350 glowing home decor. Warm temperatures of 20°C gave the event an unusual summery feel instead of the typical winter atmosphere.

The lighting will stay on until January 20, matching the city’s Sant Sebastià festival. Many German tourists travel to the island each year to see the festive display.

The lights will shine until mid-January before being carefully removed. Crews will then spend months taking down the decorations. The display remains a highlight for both residents and visitors, even in unusually warm winter weather.
