Palestinians persistently leaving Gaza
In the ongoing conflict between Israel and the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army has launched a ground offensive that has resulted in a mass exodus of nearly half a million residents from the city.
According to reports, the Israeli army has destroyed observation posts belonging to terrorist organizations and seized weapons during the attacks. The attacks have reportedly resulted in an unspecified number of enemy casualties, including a high-ranking member of a Hamas battalion.
As of Thursday evening, over 480,000 Palestinians had left Gaza, leaving behind a city that was once home to one million residents and internally displaced persons. The refugees are left with only one main escape route, Al-Rashid Street along the coast towards the southwest.
However, the Israeli army has closed a second escape route from the city in the southwest of the Gaza Strip, leaving the currently available escape routes limited. The Israeli army has designated so-called humanitarian zones towards the southwest, but most southwestern escape routes from Gaza have been closed, making it difficult for those trying to flee.
The situation in Gaza is dire, with medical sources reporting at least 35 deaths from Israeli attacks since the morning. Many Palestinians cannot afford to transport their few belongings, are exhausted or ill, and do not trust Israeli assurances of safety.
The Israeli army is fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, with explosive devices being neutralized during the attacks. However, the claims of both sides cannot be independently verified at this time.
Despite the challenges, many people are still fleeing the city of Gaza towards the southwest, seeking safety and refuge. The conflict has resulted in over 65,000 deaths since it began nearly two years ago, with no distinction made between civilians and combatants.
The situation in Gaza remains fluid, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
