In the midst of escalating violence, the city of Gaza continues to see a mass exodus of residents towards the southwest and within the city itself. According to reports, over 480,000 Palestinians have already fled their homes due to the Israeli ground offensive.

The recent attacks have claimed the lives of at least 35 individuals in the Gaza Strip since morning, as per medical sources. Regrettably, these deaths do not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in a devastating toll, with over 65,000 deaths since its commencement nearly two years ago. Tragically, the exact number of casualties on both sides remains uncertain due to the lack of independent verification.

Amidst the chaos, a high-ranking member of a Hamas battalion was reportedly killed in the latest attacks, according to military reports. Additionally, observation posts belonging to terrorist organizations were destroyed, and explosive devices and weapons were secured during the attacks.

The Israeli army is currently engaged in fierce fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The army has also expanded their operations within the city. However, the temporary escape route that was opened in the southwest of the Gaza Strip was closed again by the Israeli army, leaving the Al-Rashid Road along the coast towards the southwest as the only remaining escape route for the refugees.

Many Palestinians, weary and displaced, are now left with few options. Many cannot afford to transport their few belongings, are exhausted or ill, and do not trust Israeli assurances of safety in the so-called humanitarian zones in the southwest.

In a humanitarian effort, Chile has taken in 76 war refugees from Gaza as part of an operation starting September 10, 2025. These refugees are now under state protection and granted residency rights there.

The conflict traces back to October 7, 2023, when Hamas, along with other extremist groups, carried out massacres in Israel, resulting in the deaths of around 1,200 people and the abduction of over 250.

As the conflict continues, the international community urges both sides to prioritise peace and find a resolution to end the violence and bring much-needed stability to the region.
