In the heart of the Middle East, the city of Gaza has been the centre of a heated conflict, with various nations and international bodies expressing their concern over the recent Israeli news assault.

Israeli air strikes have resulted in a tragic loss of life, with reports of civilians being killed indiscriminately. According to the civil defense agency in Gaza City's Shati camp, an air strike took the lives of four people, including a woman and her child. Another fifteen individuals lost their lives in a missile strike outside al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical facility in the territory.

The attacks have not spared the city's healthcare infrastructure, as both al-Shifa and al-Ahli Hospitals have been targeted. At least 83 Palestinians have died in the strikes, according to officials, and the disruption of vital services for the wounded and ill in a region facing acute humanitarian distress has been a cause for grave concern.

The international community has been vocal in its condemnation of these events. Qatar, China, and Pope Leo XIV are among those who have spoken out against the Israeli news assault on Gaza City. Hamas, the Palestinian group governing Gaza, has labelled the attacks as a "full-fledged war crime."

The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry has gone as far as to accuse Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, a claim supported by UN investigators led by Navi Pillay. However, Israel has categorically rejected these accusations and has called for the immediate abolition of the commission.

Amidst the chaos, ordinary Gazans have been left to endure the brutal reality of the conflict. Many have vowed to stay in their homes, believing that nowhere is safe. Fatima Lubbad, a mother of four, left Gaza City with ten relatives but found the ordeal unbearable. She and her family now sleep in the street by the sea in Deir el-Balah due to lack of shelter.

The families of hostages taken by Palestinian militants have also been vocal in their protests, rallying in front of Netanyahu's house in Jerusalem. One such family, the Braslavskis, have been particularly affected. Ofir Braslavski, whose son Rom is held captive in Gaza, addressed the prime minister, pleading for his return.

In a rare public appearance, Ghazi Hamad, a top official in Hamas, appeared in a live interview for the first time since the Israeli attack, broadcast by Qatari channel Al Jazeera. He called for an end to the violence and a return to peace negotiations.

Meanwhile, Spain has announced that it will probe "human rights violations in Gaza" to assist the International Criminal Court in its investigation. As the conflict continues to unfold, the international community will undoubtedly be watching closely, hoping for a resolution that brings peace and justice to the people of Gaza.
