Palestinian Advocate Nadeen Ayoub to Represent Palestine in Miss Universe 2022

Nadeen Ayoub, a 27-year-old model and advocate, will make history as the first-ever Miss Palestine in the Miss Universe pageant. Born in the United States, raised in Canada, and currently residing in Dubai, Ayoub is a powerful voice for Palestinians, aiming to showcase the humanity, resilience, and diverse culture of Palestinian people beyond their suffering in the conflict.

Ayoub has been actively engaged in humanitarian work, focusing on the wellbeing of Palestinian women and children. She promises to carry the voice of a people who refuse to be silenced into the Miss Universe contest.

In contrast, the Israeli contestant for the 2022 Miss Universe pageant remains unspecified in the search results. No information about their views on the conflict was found.

The Miss Universe Organization, one of the four major global beauty pageant brands, presents itself as a neutral platform celebrating diversity. However, the competition has faced political controversies related to the Israel-Palestine conflict in the past.

Nadeen Ayoub's views reflect a nuanced position. She carries the weight of representing her nation and people with dignity, aiming to highlight Palestinian culture and the aspirations of its people, especially women and children, amid ongoing conflict.

Meanwhile, Melanie Shiraz, the Miss Israel, aims to use her title as a force for connection, understanding, and positive change. The Miss Universe Organisation welcomes delegates from across the globe, celebrating diversity, cultural exchange, and the empowerment of women.

However, the Gaza Strip is currently sliding into famine, according to experts. Israel announced plans to reoccupy Gaza City and other heavily populated areas. At least 112 children and 151 adults have died of malnutrition-related causes since the war began. A new proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and a hostage return deal has been accepted by Hamas from Arab mediators, involving a 60-day pause in fighting and the release of around half of the 50 remaining Israeli hostages, 20 of whom are believed to be alive, in exchange for 150 Palestinian security prisoners.

The Miss Universe pageant will feature 130 other countries and territories, in addition to Nadeen Ayoub, in its November event. Ayoub gained the title of Miss Palestine in 2022, and she previously represented Palestine in the Miss Earth beauty pageant in the Philippines, where she came third.

As of 2022, the Miss Universe Organisation is owned by the Thai JKN Global group. The competition, with its focus on diversity and empowerment, serves as a platform for advocates like Nadeen Ayoub to share their messages with the world.
