Skipping the Pfalz Championships for the Tour de France Tournament: Lipowitz's Focus Shift
Lipowitz forfeits Palatinate German championship title - Palatinate regional championship relinquished by Lipowitz
Take a break from the Pfalz German Championships, that's what cycling ace Florian Lipowitz, age 24, has decided to do this weekend. As per dpa reports, this top-tier German rider, who bagged the second place in the road race last year, is sacrificing his chances of winning the DM this weekend to concentrating on preparing for the Tour de France instead. Aside from this, Lipowitz is eager to recuperate from his strong performance at the Dauphiné Round, where he clinched the third overall position, trailing behind standout riders Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.
Lipowitz's team, Red Bull, hasn't yet released the roster for the three-week France Tour starting in Lille on July 3, yet his Tour debut is anticipated.
After a two-year stint in the Black Forest, the German pros will initiate the DM with an individual time trial in Ramstein on Friday, followed by a road race in the Pfalz town of Linden near Kaiserslautern on Sunday.
